LVLONE Reviews the SWORL: Possibly the Best Game Pad They Have Used
LVLONE editor-in-chief Remy Cuesta set out to find a leverless controller that felt like a keyboard. His May 2026 review says the SWORL delivered that and turned into a controller he uses well beyond fighting games.
“Junkfood Arcade made a hit with SWORL.”
— Remy Cuesta, LVLONE
What LVLONE liked
- Build quality. The review describes premium-feeling hardware that stays planted, with a sloped wrist rest that pays off in long sessions.
- Hall effect thumb domes. These are the feature that opens the SWORL up to adventure games, platformers and arcade titles, and the reviewer notes Hall effect sensing keeps them smooth over time.
- Hot-swap MX switches. Change the feel of the buttons without soldering.
- Profiles. He recommends keeping separate layouts for fighters, single-player games and general navigation, and switching between them on the controller.
- Travel ready. The right-angle braided cable and hard shell case come in the box.

What they would change
LVLONE would like a downloadable desktop app alongside the web configurator. The review also notes the stock keycaps have longer, louder travel than an ultra-low-profile leverless, so expect a different feel if you are coming from a Snack Box MICRO.
Layouts to start with
If you want ready-made game profiles like the ones the review describes, start with the Natural Profile, VS Arc and Gear Shift layouts or search for your favorite game.
