Nightreign compresses a whole Souls journey into a fast three-day co-op run, with quicker movement, lots of double jumping and character ultimates. Discord user Trevwerd iterated through two versions to make it comfortable for the SWORL.

What V1 fixed

The default layout made skills and the left-hand weapon awkward. V1 moves Skill, Right-Hand and Left-Hand actions away from the ring and pinky fingers, since you press them constantly. Event Action (open chests, talk to NPCs, and trigger your Nightfarer's special arts and ultimates) and Skill keep their spots but are labeled with the in-game names.

What V2 changed

V2 swaps D-pad up/down with Jump and Flask. Nightreign has a lot of double jumping, so jump on the movement hand is much more comfortable.

The Select-button problem

Nightreign runs reward opening and closing the map quickly, and the map is locked to Select, which is out of easy reach. On PC you can use Steam Input to move Select to a right-hand button, the same trick one owner used to put Start on L3 in Dark Souls 2.

How to import a SWORL layout

1. Download the .json file above, or copy the code into a text file and save it with a .json extension.
2. Open the file in a text editor and change the "profile" value to the slot you want, minus one (Profile 1 = 0, Profile 5 = 4), so you don't overwrite an existing profile.
3. Open the SWORL configurator, connect your SWORL and import the file.
