How to do Evo Moment 37 on a leverless controller
Evo 2004. Daigo taps forward to parry all 15 hits of Chun-Li’s super, the last one in mid-air, then punishes for the win. A historic sequence to watch and understand, not a practice drill; the arrows are a summary.
- Tap Forward 14 times, once for each kick, letting go between taps. Each tap is a parry.
- Press Up to jump.
- Tap Forward once more in the air for the last parry.
- Press R2 (heavy kick) on the way down.
- Press Down with Circle (medium kick).
- Press Forward, Down, then Down + Forward with Triangle (punch) for the Shoryuken.
- Press Down, Down + Forward, Forward twice in a row, then Cross (kick) for the super.
Watch it slowed down, then press Try it and do it yourself with a controller or your keyboard (A, S, D and Space, or the arrow keys). Timing is not frame-accurate. The animation shows the order of presses; check exact timing in your game's training mode. The animation assumes the Capcom/Neutral SOCD mode (Left + Right = Neutral, Up + Down = Neutral), which is how the MICRO and SWORL ship. Game and character names belong to their owners.
Pro notes: Evo Moment 37
Notation Parry ×15, then punish. Directions are written for a character facing right.
Keys you press vs what the game reads
Top row: the buttons you hold. Bottom row: the direction the game receives. No opposing directions are held together in this input, so every SOCD mode reads it the same way; diagonals are two keys read as one direction.
Frame and timing notes
- A 3rd Strike parry is a tap of Forward (or Down for lows) just before the hit; holding Forward does not parry.
- This page documents the sequence from Evo 2004; the timings in the animation are illustrative, not frame data.
