Nintendo Life Reviews the Snack Box MICRO on Switch and Switch 2
Nintendo Life reviewed the Snack Box MICRO on Switch and Switch 2 in July 2026. Their take: in a market full of leverless controllers adding more and more inputs, the MICRO wins by doing the basics well in a very small package.
“a lovely little device that nails the essentials”
What Nintendo Life liked
- It works across consoles. The review confirms Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox and PC support, and calls out native PS5 compatibility in particular.
- The Amber switches. They found the 1mm actuation quick enough for fast Street Fighter 6 combos, and among the quieter mechanical options they have tried.
- A beginner-friendly layout. Four directions and eight action buttons in the standard Hit Box arrangement, with nothing extra to learn.
- Easy custom art. Remove four screws, lift the cover, drop in your design. They added that the clear case looks great with no art at all.
- Small details. The braided cable, right-angle USB-C port and non-slip back all earned praise.

What they would change
The reviewer found the top function buttons small and noted they are unlabelled out of the box. He also suggests a desk over a lap because the controller is so compact, and thinks the best value comes when it is on sale. If you prefer convex caps to the stock concave ones, we sell a convex keycap set.
