Monster Hunter Wilds is a game of commitments: you pick an attack, commit to the animation, and live or die by your dodge timing. Our community produced two SWORL profiles that make those commitments easier on your hands: one from Josid built around Long Sword and melee weapons, and one from just_benj built for Bow and Hammer (with Insect Glaive and Lance also tested).

Layout 1: Melee / Long Sword (Josid)

Wilds has limited in-game button remapping, so this profile does its work in the SWORL configurator. Set Button Configuration to Type 3 in the Controls menu so the D-pad scrolls your item bar while you keep running, and set targeting on L2/LT to Toggle.

• Index: Attack and Evade stacked, so you rock one finger between offense and escape.
• Middle: Spirit/weapon special, with Sheathe/Use Item underneath, right next to Focus Strike/Sprint for get-out-of-jail potion chugs.
• Ring: Remaining attack button (all attacks side by side, fighting-game style), with Focus Attack below for Focus Strikes.
• Pinky: Item bar hold and target swap.

Josid reported getting comfortable in about 25 minutes.

Layout 2: Bow / Hammer (just_benj)

Built on Josid's profile with a few in-game changes: set Dash Controls to Use Both L3 and R2, Swap L1 and R1 Functions to Only Swap R1 and R2, and Button Configuration to Type 2.

• Triangle, Circle, R1 and R2 are grouped so every attack is under a finger. Your middle finger lives on R1 (bow draw, hammer charge, Glaive kinsect, Lance guard).
• L2 (aim) moves to the left-hand cluster so aim + fire is a comfortable two-hand chord, essential for Bow Focus shots.
• Dodge stays on X, and L1 (item wheel) is on an easy, low-fatigue finger.

Which should you pick?

Blademasters who live on Evade and Spirit combos should start with Layout 1. Ranged and charge-weapon mains, or anyone who relies on Focus Mode, should try Layout 2. Heavy Bowgun players have reported Layout 2 is a solid base too.

How to import a SWORL layout

1. Download the .json file above, or copy the code into a text file and save it with a .json extension.
2. Open the file in a text editor and change the "profile" value to the slot you want, minus one (Profile 1 = 0, Profile 5 = 4), so you don't overwrite an existing profile.
3. Open the SWORL configurator, connect your SWORL and import the file.
