The SWORL was nominated for Best Tech at the EVO Awards, and more players are bringing one to their locals and majors. Here's everything you need to know to plug in and play without holding up the bracket.

Know your version

• SWORL Multiconsole: PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PC. Five console emulation modes.
• SWORL Basic: Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PC. If your event runs on PS5, the Basic won't work on the console. You'll want the Multiconsole.

Switching console modes

Mode selection happens when you plug in:

• Multiconsole: hold one of the top five buttons on the right side while plugging in the USB cable, and keep holding for a few seconds.
• Basic: hold the first button for Switch mode or the second button for PC mode while plugging in.

Will the SWORL work on PS5?

Yes, the SWORL Multiconsole works on PS5. For the best tournament experience, play wired and tell the PS5 to prefer USB:

1. Settings → Accessories → Controller (General)
2. Communication Method → Use USB Cable

This keeps the console on the wired connection and reduces lag in crowded wireless environments like a tournament hall.

Will the SWORL work on Switch 2?

Yes. Both the SWORL Multiconsole and SWORL Basic work on Nintendo Switch 2. Select Switch mode as you plug in and connect wired to the dock's USB port, just like on the original Switch.

Set your SOCD mode before you go

Tournaments set rules for how leverless controllers handle opposite directions pressed together. Set SOCD on the SWORL by holding a direction while plugging in (for example, hold Up for Capcom mode), or through the configurator. Check your event's ruleset and read Understanding SOCD.

Profiles: the SWORL's event superpower

You can store five layouts on the controller. Load your main game on profile 1, a side-bracket game on profile 2, and switch with the Profile button. No laptop needed at the venue. Keep one profile at the default layout in case you want to hand your SWORL to a friend. Playing side events outside fighting games? Grab a ready-made layout like Smash Ultimate or Rocket League.

Event bag checklist

• SWORL in its dual-compartment hard case
• A spare USB cable with both power and data lines (not charge-only)
• Your layouts saved to profiles and tested at home
• Your SOCD setting matched to the event ruleset
• A spare keycap or two and a switch puller if you have them

Troubleshooting at the station

• Not detected? Re-plug while holding the correct console mode button.
• Buttons not responding? Check which profile you're on, and make sure no switches came loose in transit (here's how to reseat them).
