How to do the Somersault Kick on a leverless controller
Hold down to charge, then hit Up with your thumb and kick together.
- Hold Down to charge.
- Press Up with Cross (Kick).
Watch it slowed down, then press Try it and do it yourself with a controller or your keyboard (A, S, D and Space, or the arrow keys). Timing is not frame-accurate. The animation shows the order of presses; check exact timing in your game's training mode. The animation assumes the Capcom/Neutral SOCD mode (Left + Right = Neutral, Up + Down = Neutral), which is how the MICRO and SWORL ship. Game and character names belong to their owners.
Pro notes: Somersault Kick
Notation [2] 8 + K. Directions are written for a character facing right.
Keys you press vs what the game reads
Top row: the buttons you hold. Bottom row: the direction the game receives. No opposing directions are held together in this input, so every SOCD mode reads it the same way; diagonals are two keys read as one direction.

Set the mode by holding a direction while you plug in: Up = Capcom/Neutral, Left = Up priority, Down = Last priority, Right = None. Check yours in the controller tester.
Frame and timing notes
- SuperCombo (SF6 Guile): 45f charge time, and the charge lasts up to 12f after Down is released.
- In Up priority (Classic) mode you can keep Down held and tap Up + K; Hit Box calls this the Low Flash Kick because Guile stays crouched. In the shipping Capcom/Neutral mode Up + Down reads as neutral, so release Down as Up lands.
- A Perfect version exists like the Perfect Sonic Boom; use training mode's input display to find the window.
Leverless tips for the Somersault Kick
The finger map used here: ring finger on Back, middle finger on Down, index finger on Forward, right thumb on Up.
- This is where leverless shines. Down stays under your left middle finger while your right thumb hits Up, so there is no stick to throw from bottom to top.
- Let go of Down as Up lands. Up and Down held together read as neutral, which eats the kick.
